1 Having been released then “through faith,” through the Messiah, Jesus, our divine ruler, we also have peace with God, 2 through whom we also have access, by means of that same “faith,” into this favor in which we currently stand. And here we boast in the hope of the shining glory that will ultimately be gifted to us by God. 3 Not only this though. We also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering crafts endurance, 4 endurance crafts a tested character, and character crafts hope. 5 And that hope will never shame us because God’s love for us has been poured out into our hearts and minds through the sanctifying spirit of God who has been given to us. 6 While we were still corrupt, at that time, the Messiah died for those who reject God. 7 Now it is very rare that someone dies on behalf even of a righteous person. Perhaps. Admittedly, someone might dare to die on behalf of a really good person. 8 But God demonstrates his own special love for us in the fact that while we were still sinners the Messiah died for us. 9 How much more then, having been released now, by means of his shed blood, will be saved by him from any future anger? 10 Because if, while we were hostile to God, we were nevertheless reconciled to him through the death of his own son, then how much more having been reconciled to him are we saved through his ongoing life? 11 Indeed, can we not simply glory in God through Jesus the Messiah, our divine ruler, through whom we have received this reconciliation right now? [But I am getting a little ahead of myself.]
